Despite exploring his NFL options, Michigan quarterback expects to be back with the maize and blue:
NEW ORLEANS – When Michigan junior quarterback Denard Robinson decided to approach the NFL advisory board for his draft status this month, it was more of a feeling-out process than a look to jump, he said today.
“I expect to be back and that’s it,” Robinson said today at the New Orleans Convention Center Marriott, where U-M’s offensive players met the media, leading up to the Jan. 3 Sugar Bowl against Virginia Tech.
He hasn’t heard back from the NFL experts yet and wouldn’t share exactly what he’s looking for.
But it was clearly his initiation to inquire.
“It was a decision where I was like, I’ll put my name out there and see what happens,” Robinson said. “I thought it was a good idea, so I did it.”
This isn’t unexpected – unless Robinson really, really wanted to be done with college. After a so-so year in quarterback heavy draft, it likely would have been a very long wait on draft day.
