Indiana wide receiver Kofi Hughes was suspended for a game.

A dismissal, two quit and three suspended. Just another day in Indiana football.

From the Indy Star:

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana junior wide receiver Kofi Hughes, the former Cathedral standout who caught 35 passes for IU last season, is among three players who will be suspended for one game during the 2012 football season, IU coach Kevin Wilson announced today.

Hughes, who started 10 games last season, was suspended for one game along with cornerback Lawrence Barnett and safety Forisse Hardin for an unspecified violation of team rules. Hardin played as a true freshman last season and started two games.

And then there’s this:

Along with the suspensions, Wilson announced that a total of three others players have left the program. Two of them, safety Shaquille Jefferson and wide receiver Logan Young, left the program “to pursue other opportunities.’’

“We thank Shaquille and Logan for their contributions to the program,’’ Wilson said in a release put out by the school’s media relations department. “Both have indicated they plan to transfer to another school to continue their careers. They leave IU in good standing and we wish them the best.’’

A third, wide receiver Jay McCants, a sophomore from Cincinnati, Ohio, was dismissed from the team for an unspecified violation of team rules. McCants caught six passes for 54 yards in 12 games last season as a true freshman.

Let’s set the over/under on wins for Indiana this year at 2.5.
