Media: Wisconsin, Michigan Best In Big Ten

Will Wisconsin and Michigan meet in the Big Ten title game?

Bucky! Wolverines! Indy!

Or so says the Big Ten media, which picked Wisconsin and Michigan to win their respective divisions this year.

Team (First-place votes Points
1. Wisconsin (19) 139
2. Ohio State (5) 125
3. Purdue 79
4. Illinois 72
5. Penn State 65
6. Indiana 24
Team (First-place votes Points
1. Michigan (16) 134
2. Michigan State (7) 120
3. Nebraska (1) 104
4. Iowa 72
5. Northwestern 51
6. Minnesota 24

In other words, Indiana and Minnesota are unanimous choices to finish last in their divisions.

Once in the championship game, this is what they expect to happen:

Eleven voters selected the Wolverines to beat the Badgers in the conference championship game. Five picked Wisconsin to beat Michigan and seven predicted Michigan State to knock off the Badgers. One writer selected Wisconsin over Nebraska.

And individual awards:

Purdue defensive tackle Kawann Short received the second-most votes to be named the league’s top defensive player behind Michigan State end William Gholston. Also receiving votes were Ohio State lineman Johnathan Hankins and tackle John Simon, Michigan State linebacker Denicos Allen, Wisconsin linebacker Chris Borland, and Penn State linebacker Gerald Hodges.

Wisconsin running back Montee Ball nipped Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson to win the league’s offensive player of the year. Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller was the only other player to receive a vote.

So it shall be.
