Big Ten Poll Watch: Week 18

The Spartans remain in the Top 10 in the AP poll, but Branden Dawson's knee injury just made things harder.

Well, that was a crazy final week to the Big Ten that blew the conference tournament wide open.

Five teams – and they are all ranked in the top 15 in the nation – arguably have a reasonable chance to win in Indy this week. Click here to vote on who you think will win.

Meanwhile, here is how the nation’s esteemed voters viewed Big Ten teams on their ballots this week:

Ohio State (No. 7)

  • Best: No. 5 (Cormac Gordon, Dick Weiss, Jack Bogaczyk, Joey Johnston, John McNamara, Pete Gilbert)
  • Worst: No. 11 (Toni Ginnetti)
  • Most common: No. 7 (30 times).
  • Full report here.

Michigan State (No. 8)

  • Best: No. 5 (Frank Schwab)
  • Worst: No. 14 (Mark McCarter)
  • Most common: No. 8 (30 times)
  • Full report here.

Michigan (No. 10)

  • Best: No. 7 (Scott Wolf)
  • Worst: No. 18 (Dave Borges)
  • Most common: No. 10 (16 times)
  • Full report here.

Wisconsin (No. 14)

  • Best: No. 8 (Toni Ginnetti)
  • Worst: No. 20 (Nick Jezierny)
  • Most common: Nos. 13, 14 (18 times each)
  • Full report here.

Indiana (No. 15)

  • Best: No. 10 (Steven Bradley)
  • Worst: Unranked (Jason Franchuk)
  • Most common: No. 15 (26 times)
  • Full report here.

OK, where to start with this hot mess?

They’re all bad. Borges is a repeat offender, however. The New Haven Register journalist voted Michigan lower than anybody else among the 64 voters. Only four had Indiana lower. Only one had Wisconsin lower. Just three voters had Michigan State lower.

Seems Mr. Borges isn’t so impressed with the Big Ten.

Update: Franchuk explained his ballot:
