Well, Urban Meyer seems to know what he’s doing, no?
A few short weeks after taking over the Buckeyes, he has the No. 3 recruiting class in the nation with one five-star (scooped up from Penn State) and a whopping 10 four-star recruits.
Not too shabby. Especially at defensive end. Look at what he’s bringing in.
Here is what is expected to happen on National Signing Day (player rankings all via ESPN, with class rankings from Scout.com and comments from Rivals.com, to even things out):
Commits: 23 (click on this number to see which have signed throughout the day!)
Scout.com ranking: No. 3
Five stars (1): Noah Spence, Harrisburg, Penn., No. 2 defensive end.
Four stars (10): Adolphus Washington, Cincinnati, No. 7 defensive end; Se`Von Pittman, Canton, Ohio, No. 14 defensive end; Joey O’Connor, Windsor, Colo., No. 8 offensive guard; Tommy Schutt, Glen Ellyn, Ill., No. 9 defensive tackle; Josh Perry, Galena, Ohio, No. 16 outside linebacker; Armani Reeves, West Roxbury, Mass., No. 23 athlete; Bri’onte Dunn, Canton, Ohio, No. 14 running back; Ricquan Southward, Lakeland, Fla., No. 41 wide receiver; Pat Elflein, Pickerington, Ohio, No. 26 offensive guard; and David Perkins, South Bend, Ind., No. 33 athlete.

Signing Day Update: Jamal Marcus – yet another four-star defensive end/linebacker – picked Ohio State, which the Columbus Dispatch calls “a pleasant surprise.” The Buckeyes also added Kyle Dodson, a three-star offensive tackle out of Cleveland Heights who ESPN listed as a Wisconsin commit.
Summary: Not bad for a team under NCAA sanctions – and a bowl ban for the upcoming season. Urban Meyer flat out got it done.
What they’re saying: “A very average class in October has turned into one of the top three in the nation heading into National Signing Day due to the work of new Buckeye’s head coach Urban Meyer.” – Rivals.com.
