Northwestern wrapped up its 2012 recruiting when former five-star wide receiver Kyle Prater agreed to transfer to Evanston from USC.
Everything after that was gravy.
Speaking of gravy, here is what is expected to happen for Pat Fitzgerald on National Signing Day (player rankings all via ESPN, with class rankings from Scout.com and comments from Rivals.com, to even things out):
Commits: 22 (click on this number to see which have signed throughout the day!)
Scout.com ranking: No. 45 (subject to change)
Four stars (1): Ifeadi Obenigbo, Centerville, Ohio, No. 6 defensive end.
Three stars (9): Adam DePietro, Lancaster, Penn., No. 46 offensive tackle; Ian Park, Upper St. Clair, Penn., No. 38 offensive guard; Kenton Playko, Lewis Center, Ohio, No. 80 offensive tackle; Conner Mahoney, Malvern, Penn., No. 64 offensive guard; Dean Lowry, Rockford, Ill., No. 115 defensive end; Greg Kuhar, Lakewood, Ohio, No. 81 defensive tackle; Jack Schwaba, Upper St. Clair, Penn., No. 60 tight end; Eric Wilson, Redford, Mich., No. 146 wide receiver; and Eric Olson, Cambridge, Mass., No. 143 wide receiver.
Summary: Did we mention Kyle Prater is coming? But not until 2013. Also, Fitz seems to have Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania, locked down.
