Hey Look! Shots Going Through the Basket!

UW Football, UW Hoops

It looks like this.

After shooting less than 35% from the field in 4 of the last 5 games (including stellar efforts of 31.4% in a L at Michigan and 31.3% in a W(!) vs. Nebraska), Wisconsin managed to shoot 50% from the field and 52% from distance tonight in a good old fashioned Wildcat pounding tonight.

Going back to the Nebraska win for a second, I meant to point out this dandy of a quote from Nebraska coach Doc Sadler after the Cornhuskers shot just two free throws in Madison:

“It wasn’t our lack of being aggressive taking it to the basket,” Nebraska coach Doc Sadler said. “Obviously they’re just an unbelievable defensive team to not foul.”

I think he was being sarcastic.

In other Badgers news, I am super pumped that UW football is poaching coaches from top programs such as Western Kentucky and Northern Illinois to fill their offensive assistant coaching vacancies.  I am guessing that the offensive line coach will be from Louisiana Tech or San Jose State.

My question is – Why does this Wisconsin team seem more content to chuck up 3’s than past Bo Ryan teams? There is simply too much shooting behind the arc from the Badgers these days to allow them to win consistently against B-10 level opponents.

    What has changed?
