Bad Big Ten Shirts: Minnesota Homecoming 2011

December 22, 2011

B1G, Bad B1G Shirts, Minn Football

Apparently, somebody at the U of Minnesota bookstore likes Van Halen…

All that glitters is gold? J.R.R Tolkien is spinning in his grave.

…and they better check that this awful design isn’t copyright infringement (see below).   Not that there would be any royalites or earnings to turn over to Eddie, Alex, and Wolfgang anyways.  And then to take the classic J.R.R Tolkien quote (and lyric from ‘Stairway to Heaven’) and butcher it to have pretty much the inverse of its intended meaning.  Shameful.

Are the Van Halens' feeling litigious these days? Word is that the U of Minnesota has a sizable endowment.

At least homecoming this year wasn’t against Purdue or Iowa.  Then there would have been some serious explaining to do.

As always, you can view the entire series here.

Maybe it would’ve been more fitting pre-2011 with the Marquis Gray/Adam Weber saga playing out like David Lee Roth vs Sammy Haggar. It’s all about the timing. . .

If you look reeeaal close, you can see that the logo is an ‘HC’, presumably for ‘Homecoming’. FAIL.
